Get Confident is a technical hydraulic training program I created and deliver nationwide. It is a four to five hour, hands on session designed to simplify hose and coupling education for professionals working in hydraulic and industrial hose environments.
I have delivered the course to groups of up to 100 participants and currently serve as the sole instructor. The program is practical and field focused. It equips sales representatives, counter staff, and technicians with real working knowledge they can apply immediately rather than relying on classroom theory alone.
The course is divided into four core areas:
Teaches hydraulic coupling identification using real thread identification kits, seal styles, and common visual features. The session covers core SAE and international thread standards and how to recognize and classify them in the field. Every attendee works hands on with training kits filled with real couplings.
Builds hose product knowledge using more than 25 real hydraulic, fleet, and industrial hose samples. The session covers hose construction, laylines, application types, and practical selection methods. We review SAE specifications and provide a working overview of major industrial hose families and their use in real environments.
Provides live demonstrations of hydraulic and industrial hose cutting using Gates equipment. Attendees learn proper cutting techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation through step by step instruction.
Includes hands on crimper training using the PC707 and GC20. The session walks through machine setup, calibration, crimp specifications, troubleshooting, and proper use of crimp data. Each attendee completes the full process from hose selection through final assembly.
Helps sales professionals better understand hydraulic system requirements so they can recommend the right products with confidence. The session covers pressure classes, application types, and operating environments to help reps align product families with real customer needs. The goal is to build technical fluency so attendees can engage end users with credibility and back their recommendations with practical knowledge.
This class was built to help the field. It improves confidence, increases safety, and gives people the knowledge they need to make better decisions at the crimper, on the counter, and in the shop.
