About me

Who I am professionally

I'm a Key Accounts Sales Manager for Gates Corporation who is dedicated to our Gates branded aftermarket heavy duty and hydraulic accounts. I support our HD customers sales efforts and training, and I work to ensure they have the inventory needed to properly service their markets, maintain new product inventory and offerings, and provide up-to-date industry information.

During my 7+ years in the AR, I have developed soft and hard skills on our hydraulic product line and systems that have allowed me to take a more technical approach to how I grow and support our AR hydraulic business. First, I regularly cross-collaborate with our AR and Global Product Line Management (“GPLM”) groups to pitch and implement my ideas (eFitting, eHose, new product ideas, white pages). Second, I work with our AR marketing team to create new, technical fliers on hydraulic products that are easy for our AR sales team and customers to understand. Third, I have created and implemented new promotions that are used in my region and others, created technical bulletins and white page articles (my first one was featured in Power & Motion magazine, Machine Design magazine, and the GPLM Newsletter), I am currently working with our training team to model and implement a technical CSC-style training to bring to the field, and am always keeping up-to-date with hydraulic system and industry trends/changes and sharing that knowledge to our sales team and customers. In my free time, I am in the process of working towards my Gates PMx-1 certification, with the goal of managing a project to obtain my PMx-2 certification. Having a PMx-2 certified team member would give our group a chance to be involved in AR hydraulic or heavy-duty projects, or even the opportunity to lead a project that directly impacts our business.

In the past with Gates, I called on our NAPA account. I represented all Gates products and other manufacturers that made up the NAPA Heating and Cooling Group. I was responsible for $7.5 million in NAPA Heating and Cooling Group sales out of the NAPA Dallas distribution center. I managed a territory of 22 NAPA corporate stores, 60 independently owned NAPA stores, and 14 Integrated Business Solution operations in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. In 2017, I was the top District Sales Manager overall in the nation, the 2nd quarter NAPA “Systems Selling Group MVP,” and a finalist for the NAPA “System Selling Group of the Year” award.

Prior to Gates, I was an analyst at a mortgage servicing company where I held 4 key roles during my 4.5 years with them. Public speaking, presentations, business correspondence, customer service, and account management were just a few important skills I had to master to excel in each role. The experience I gained during those 4.5 years have set me up for a successful career path, and I use each of those skills daily in my current role.

Who I am personally

I was born and raised in central Texas (Goldthwaite) where I graduated in 2005. I worked my way through college and graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Agribusiness Management in 2010. I moved to the DFW area shortly after where I started my career and family. I maintain a small bee apiary, collect and restore vintage straight razors, and enjoy being at home with my wife, Kelly, and my two young sons, Henry and Charlie.
